I reached out to my good friend Deb from The Stillpoint who has experienced first hand the impact of illness and isolation. Deb is a certified yoga teacher, meditation teacher and energy healer who in the past has suffered from crippling bouts of illness that would leave her bedridden and in isolation for months on end. Diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in 2007, Deb began searching for answers to a complicated disorder - one that cannot be explained by any underlying medical condition but has been hypothesised to stem from psychological stress. Fascinated, Deb began to study and explore the correlation between body and mind and how to create lasting wellness and relief from fatigue through yoga and meditation.
Science can't explain why yoga helps people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, however gentle, restorative poses can help to soothe the nervous system and increase circulation and oxygen flow throughout the body which is key to healing. Now completely recovered, Deb teaches yoga and meditation and is passionate about helping those who suffer from illness to find their way back to wellness and vitality.
